Dickens Society Blog: Call for Posts
At the end of July, the 23rd Dickens Society Symposium will be held at Tübingen University. More information can be found here.
The research context at Tübingen links literary studies with linguistics. Hence, the conference invites papers on Dickens and Language, including (but not limited to): Dickens and dialect, Dickens and figurative language, Dickens and body language, Dickens and genre, Dickens and the slipping signifier, Dickens and cultural linguistics, Dickens and foreign language, Dickens and dissonance, Dickens and rhetoric, Dickens in translation, Dickens and onomastics, Dickens and orality, Dickens and the language of emotion.
Looking forward to the Symposium, the Dickens Society Blog welcomes targeted submissions of 800-1200 words on topics relating to Dickens and Language. These can be short, early versions of work to be presented in Tübingen, pieces you’d be interesting in discussing further at the Symposium, or unrelated work still in keeping with the theme.
Posts will be accepted up to 15 August 2018, to be posted between now and the end of August. A new topic will be proposed for the months of September to December.
We also welcome ongoing submissions from researchers at any career level on any topic relating to Dickens’s life, work, or world – if you would like to submit a post on a forthcoming publication, an existing project or a think-piece on any topic, please get in touch.
Please email blog posts, proposals or any queries to emily.bell@york.ac.uk and catherine.quirk2@mail.mcgill.ca
