COVID-19 Matching Program
Charles Dickens, “A Christmas Carol”
“Mankind was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The deals of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
So far, individuals have contributed a total of $3100 charity donations to various organizations that will be matched by The Dickens Society as a second donation to The Charles Dickens Museum as it copes with the financial impact of COVID-19.
Help us reach our $5,000 threshold by contributing! After you have donated to the cause of your choice, simply email DS Secretary Sara Malton at Sara.Malton@smu.ca with the amount and name of the organization.
Thus far, Dickensians across the globe have financed a range of COVID-19 relief funds, including the following:
- The Food Bank of NYC
- Our Sisters of Charity Development Fund
- Royal Free Hospital, London
- The Intensive Care Society, via the National Funding Scheme (UK)
- Adsum House Shelter and Support for Women
